Gas Chambers Initiative

When we started collecting information about Virginia's gas chambers in November of 2004, we found 21 jurisdictions were using gas.

That list is now down to 4 (as of December 2006).

Those still using gas are:

  1. Lee County
  2. Martinsville City
  3. Scott County
  4. Wythe County
Those that stopped using gas (congratulations!) are:
  1. Appomattox County
  2. Bath County
  3. Buchanan County
  4. Buckingham County
  5. Charlotte County
  6. Chesterfield County
  7. Cumberland
  8. Floyd County
  9. Franklin City
  10. Franklin County
  11. Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society
  12. Isle of Wight County
  13. Pittsylvania County
  14. Prince Edward County
  15. Pulaski County
  16. Southampton County
  17. Sussex County
