Anti-freeze Safety Act

Looking for Barns for Feral Cats - submitted by Marion Adam

__________________________

Anti-Freeze Safety Act

H.R. 2567/S. 1110 will require the addition of a bittering agent to ethylene glycol antifreeze/coolant to render it unpalatable.

Every year, hundreds of children and thousands of animals drawn to the sweet taste of antifreeze are accidentally poisoned. Antifreeze is fatal in very small quantities.

Requiring the addition of denatonium benzoate could prevent many of these poisonings. Denatonium benzoate, the bitterest known substance, has been safely used for years in many household and personal care products, including cosmetics. This minor addition would cost only pennies per gallon.

Please take a moment to urge your federal representatives to support this important legislation. Just click on the link below:

Also, take a moment to thank Virginia Senator George Allen for introducing the Senate Antifreeze Safety Act, S. 1110. He chairs the subcommittee of jurisdiction and this is his first real animal advocacy bill. Just click on the link below to tell him his efforts are appreciated.

Looking for Barns for Feral Cats - submitted by Marion Adam

Our situation is that there is a small feral colony (~15-20 cats, S/N, eartipped) living in our cul-de-sac in Chantilly, VA. Several of our neighbors are adamant that they be removed from the area and soon.

This is not an issue of explaining the benefits of TNR, as that has already
been tried. So we are attempting to relocate the cats. They are a tight-knit group but could be split up between two or more locations, as necessary.

We have been making attempts to find places for them but so far have had no luck. Any information on barns and/or stables that would be willing and able to take them would helpful. I fully expect that there will be none available but am inclined to make inquiries just the same. Again, any information would be greatly appreciated.
