Please, if you have any information that will help, please contact the Scott County Sheriff's Office at (276) 386-3722. For those of you who have not heard about this yet, construction workers in Scott County, Virginia found between 100 and 150 dead dogs dumped in two different sites along a creek. The dogs had been apparently gassed, placed in garbage bags and biohazard bags, then dumped. Below are some links to articles that describe this awful atrocity: AP Story in the Richmond Times Dispatch April 1. BristolNews.com story from March 30. _____________________ VVAW Northern Neck Chapter - submitted by Pat WeaklandThe first meeting for the newly formed VVAW of Northern Neck will be held on Monday, 4/4/05 at 7pm at the Best Western in Warsaw.
Pat Weakland is organizing and heading the group along with Barb Dietz. Four counties will be covered: Westmoreland, Richmond, Lancaster and Northumberland.
Pat says he’s talked with many people who have expressed great interest in making change in the area. He wants the participation of those working with shelters, rescues and animal control in addition to concerned citizens.
Please try to attend this meeting.
If you can come, please let Barb or Pat know.
If you cannot come this time but want to work along with Pat, Barb and the rest, contact either Pat or Barb:

_____________________ Photos From Past Meetings Posted - submitted by Glen SwainWe have (finally) posted a number of pictures taken from the past two meetings held in Fredericksburg. Just click on the Photos link under meetings. We hope to post photos from future meetings as well. Enjoy! _____________________ Meeting Strategy - submitted by Lillian ClancyWe have scheduled a number of meetings across the state over the next several months. We want to give you some insight into why we scheduled things the way we did. Generally speaking, we tried to provide options for those wanting to attend, in terms of geography and days. As an example, Fairfax and Manassas are reasonably close geographically, and those going to a meeting in Fairfax could easily attend one in Manassas as well. As you can see on the schedule, Fairfax has been scheduled for a Saturday on May 7, while the Manassas meeting is scheduled for a Sunday on May 22. This way those in this general geography have two choices for meetings - if something is happening during the weekend of the Fairfax meeting, they can attend the Manassas meeting later in the month instead, and if a Sunday meeting is better than Saturday, that option is available. We followed a similar strategy around the state. |
