VVAW- Alert Yahoo-Don’s LTE-pound IV
Three topics this time:
1. changes in VVAW yahoo group membership
2. Don’s article now a letter to the editor
3. interview at the pound
1. changes in VVAW yahoo group membership
We have been very trusting in admitting people to join the VVAW yahoo group, but because not everyone wants to use the group for bona fide discussion, we will install some changes.
No one will become a participant in the VVAW yahoo group without full identification including name, address, phone, plus email. There will be a phone screen done for every person applying to join.
We will go back to those already part of the group and require the same of them.
VVAW’s goals are well-documented, and one of them is to be open and share what we are doing. We share what we are doing even with those we know are opposed to some or all of what we believe. These folks are on our distribution list, just as much as those who share beliefs with the majority.
Any person who is on our distribution list and opposes our stated intentions will receive this message. All have the option of requesting to be removed from our distribution list. Over the several years, we have had people ask to be eliminated from the list, and we have done so immediately.
We are working on a new form, and content of messages will continue to be reviewed by the group moderator.
2. Don’s article now a letter to the editor
Don’s article which appeared in the most recent issue of Cooperative Living,
http://www.co-opliving.com/coopliving/issues/2006/July%202006/food.htm (click here to revisit) has gotten positive but limited response.
The article is now a letter to the editor (only the closing is different) and is being sent to many newspapers in Virginia.
If you see it printed, please let us know. We get many Virginia papers, but not all.
And, if you see it printed, please consider responding to it. Even if you see it in a paper other than one from where you live, consider responding. Some good strong responses to letters to the editor harken back to "when I used to live in ____" and go from there. We would particularly ask you to think how you might say something about the continued use of gas chambers in the seven jurisdictions in Virginia:
Appomattox County
Buchanan County
Lee County
Martinsville City
Scott County
Southampton County
Wythe County
which should, by now, have given up such barbaric procedures.

No one has said it better. Rescue isn’t enough. We must make change. We must make change more than saving one at a time. Remember Pete and Petey every time you think you’ve done all you can and can’t make that phone call, can’t send that email, don’t have time to come to that meeting, feel you don’t know the political process and so you don’t come to Richmond. Remember Pete. Remember Petey.
If you don’t make the effort to make a difference, you’re acquiescing to the status quo.
Make a difference. We shouldn’t have to do this without you.
Thank you.
