Alert   9/21/08   Update on Pit Bull with No Ears

There has been a wonderful response to the alert about our pit bull, Prinnie (AKA Princess). So many of you have helped Prinnie. Special thanks to Debra Griggs for her willingness to help find good options for a special dog who already had too much awful happen to her.

Here is where things stand now. Following up on a referral, Prinnie is with a trainer who will have her for about a month at his home. We are hoping so hard that the training is successful enough for Prinnie to come back home and rejoin the other dogs. If that isn’t possible, there have been many other suggestions about next steps with her.

And one of the other good things happening here, in addition to believing there is still a chance for Prinnie, is that we are putting together your suggestions and resources to be used when other pit bulls need help.

We know there are some who have reacted negatively to our decision that Prinnie needed a different home, feeling we were abandoning a dog for which we had responsibility. That is not so. Prinnie is our responsibility, and our actions must be in her best interests and in the best interests of our other dogs.
