Alert 6/9/08         More Meetings! Please Come!!

 

Below is the updated list of regional legislative meetings.

 

The Virginia Federation of Humane Societies (VFHS) and Virginians for Animal Welfare (VAW) want you to attend a legislative forum – a look back at 2008 and a look ahead to 2009.

 

Come to any and all of them!

 

You do not need to bring anything except your enthusiasm for making change for Virginia’s companion animals.

 

You do not need to live near the site of a meeting, so if you live in northern Virginia and want to attend the meeting in Halifax, just come along! And, by the way, the meeting in Halifax will be the first one held in that part of Virginia. We want those in the Halifax area to attend, but if you can drive to that meeting regardless of where you start, please do so!

 

To make sure we have enough coffee, bagels, and chairs, please let us know which meetings you plan to attend.

 

Please note that one of the meetings is a little different and promises to be a great deal of fun. On 7/13, a meeting combining Nelson County and environs with Charlottesville and Albemarle will be held at Gallastar Equine Center in Afton (Nelson County), hosted by Lorelei and Ron Pulliam. After the meeting, which runs from 11 to 1, Lorelei and Ron will have a vegan BBQ for any and all who attend the meeting, and will also have a tour of their farm animal sanctuary and therapeutic riding center. Please come bearing giftsfor their 120+ pot belly pigs. Lorelei notes they prefer baby carrots and cut up veggies and fruits of any kind. We hope to have a large and enthusiastic crowd for this meeting, so space will be first come, first served basis.
