Alert 6/15/07 Change in F’burg Meeting – and Meet the Candidates

Fredericksburg meeting postponed.

The Fredericksburg meeting scheduled to be held on Sunday, 6/24/07, is being postponed until after Labor Day.

The reason?

Lots going on, and here is some of it:

Kim Kincheloe, on the Board of VVAW/VAW, is running for Virginia’s House of Delegates.

Kim is running for the 54th District as an independent. Her opposition is the incumbent, Del. Robert Orrock, who is the Chair of the House Ag Subcommittee, and a person who has dealt death blows to many VVAW initiatives over the last several years.

Kim’s brief bio is on the VVAW website:

Kim Kincheloe serves on the Economic Development Authority for Spotsylvania County and previously served as Chairman of that Board for a number of years. She has been an animal lover and "rescuer" all her life, something she inherited from her mother. She currently has 11 dogs and 3 cats – all rescues. In the mid-80’s, she and her mother became involved with an "official" animal rescue organization, The Pet Assistance League. Through that organization, they rescued and rehomed hundreds of animals. In 1999, they formed their own organization, Lionhearts, Inc., and with cooperation from Spotsylvania County, opened a low-cost spay/neuter clinic serving the Fredericksburg area. Since then, they have spayed and neutered some 30,000 cats and dogs.

Kim’s district covers almost all of Spotsylvania County and a small part of Caroline County.

If you can help Kim on her campaign, let her know by contacting her at: ElectKincheloe@aol.com

Don Marro, co-founder of VVAW/VAW, is running for Virginia’s Senate.

Like Kim, Don is running as an independent for the 27th Senatorial District, the seat being vacated by long-time VVAW supporter, Sen. Russell Potts.

Don’s brief bio is also on the VVAW website:

Don Marro grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University with a BA and MBA. Don’s work experience was mostly at Sony with some Northern Telecom mixed in, in marketing and general management positions, and later at several entrepreneurial ventures including MicroPro, HotelTech, Surpass Software, and Software Technologie SA. Most recently, Don has been a real estate investor, animal welfare activist and co-founder with his wife, Lillian Clancy, of VVAW/VAW.

Don’s senatorial district covers parts of Loudoun, Fauquier, and Clarke counties and the City of Winchester.

And like Kim, Don wants supporters, but he is not accepting financial contributions. If you live in Don’s district or know those who do, please send them Don’s way by calling 540-253-5784 or emailing him at LSClancy@crosslink.net
