Alert 5/2/08     We Meant MAY, not March!

Yesterday’s alert had the wrong headline.

It should have read: Court Watch – May, 2008 (instead of Court Watch – March, 2008).

Glen noticed my mistake and posted the alert corrected. Glen Swain posts the alerts on the VVAW website (www.VirginiaVotersForAnimalWelfare.com). Go there to see and review all the alerts for this year and last – and not just those for Court Watch.

Thank you very much, Glen.

What do you think about the Court Watch program? What suggestions do you have for making it more effective?

This is an opportunity to use the law and the legal system to help Virginia’s animals. And the program would be more effective if more attended the court proceedings.

What groups might be interested in coming? Can you marshall groups of people who might attend? students? retired people? those with free time?

We have gotten positive responses on Court Watch from Commonwealth Attorneys because we support their prosecution on animal cruelty cases. At a minimum, merely contacting the Commonwealth Attorneys to say you support their efforts goes a long way. These are elected Commonwealth Attorneys, and they will prioritize base on community support.

Please share your thoughts and your time if you can help with the program. Perhaps you can help track specific cases. Perhaps you can be responsible by promoting stricter animal abuse ordinances or enforcement in a specific city or county. Perhaps you can talk with local animal control officers and ask them what help they need in terms of getting a case to be prosecuted.

Help us make this work.
